Berlin, August 01, 2025 – Hubject, the global leader in EV charging interoperability, today announced a strategic partnership with Place to Plug, the innovative Spanish charging platform provider. This collaboration will integrate Hubject's industry-leading Plug&Charge technology into Place to Plug's comprehensive charging ecosystem, bringing seamless authentication-free charging to drivers across Europe.
Transforming the Charging Experience for Every Driver
Place to Plug's diverse platform serves everyone from individual EV drivers to large enterprise fleets through their comprehensive Connect Platform and driver app. By integrating Plug&Charge technology, Place to Plug will offer their users the ultimate in charging simplicity: connect, charge, and go—no apps, cards, or authentication steps required.
The partnership will enable Plug&Charge functionality across 5,000 charging points within Place to Plug's network, with implementation expected to Q4 2025. This represents Place to Plug's first implementation of Plug&Charge technology, marking a significant step in their commitment to delivering frictionless charging experiences.
Advanced Technology Meeting Real-World Needs
Place to Plug's platform already supports over 180,000 charging points globally and serves users ranging from homeowners to municipalities through their scalable Connect Platform tiers. By adding Plug&Charge capabilities, the platform will enhance its existing features—including real-time monitoring, smart load balancing, and QR-code-based ad hoc charging—with the industry's most advanced authentication technology.
The integration builds on Place to Plug's OCPI-based interoperability foundation, ensuring seamless communication between vehicles, charging stations, and backend systems. This combination of existing platform flexibility with cutting-edge Plug&Charge technology positions Place to Plug to serve the evolving needs of Europe's rapidly expanding EV market.
Industry Leaders Enabling Mass EV Adoption
"This partnership perfectly demonstrates how collaboration accelerates innovation in eMobility," said Christian Hahn, CEO of Hubject. "Place to Plug serves an incredibly diverse user base—from individual drivers seeking convenient charging to enterprises managing complex fleet operations. By bringing Plug&Charge technology to this ecosystem, we're not just eliminating friction for thousands of daily charging sessions; we're creating the seamless experiences that give all types of users the confidence to embrace electric mobility. When charging becomes as simple as plugging in your phone, we remove one of the last barriers to mass EV adoption."
